May he rest in peace he was for me without doubt one of the greatest comedy character actors of our generation.
Warren Mitchell was a superb actor, Alf Garnett was a nasty old bigot who hated everything and everyone that came into his eye line.
I will definitely miss him.

Since the left fail to make any distinction between having a vague feeling of unease about levels of immigration and introducing gas chambers and use the term bigot according to the definition 'anybody who disagrees with me', I think I'll just disagree with you on that one.
Doubtless in your eyes this confirms me as a bigot.

I've always suspected that Speight deceived both Mitchell and the BBC and simply made a massively-successful comedy about a funny-looking bloke who was pig to his wife but who nonetheless reflected the attitudes of virtually everybody at the time.
In any case, I'll wager more were laughing with him than at him.
That the left-wing scouser Mike character was an irritating cunt cannot be seriously disputed.
